Who we are
GOODSTEIN is an independent creative agency specialized in world building for brands that want to surpass the traditional paid media model. Founded in 2010 the agency is best known for its work on Volkswagen’s ‘People’s Car Project’.
GOODSTEIN is one of the most awarded independent creative agencies in China wining accolades in Cannes Lions, Clio, Spikes Asia, Adfest, London International, DMA, Epica, Effies, John Caples and AME.
In 2013 the agency won the first Gold for China in Branded Entertainment at the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival. In 2017 we have moved our operations to Shanghai where we work for a global market.
Our Team
Georg Warga is an Austrian Creative Director and Filmmaker.
In 2010 he founded GOODSTEIN (www.gdstn.com), an award-winning creative agency specialized in entertainment, innovation and world building for brands to tell their stories.
In his twenty+ years of advertising experience he has worked for agencies such as Ogilvy, Proximity and Interone Worldwide covering brands such as BMW, MINI, Volkswagen, Citroën, BOSCH, IBM, Vodafone, Bank Austria, Nestlé and Unilever.
In the years 2005-2010 he was Executive Creative Director for BMW launching every single BMW model into the Chinese market. He also launched the BMW 3 Series and the BMW 7 Series globally.
In 2011 Georg invented the co-creation platform 'The People's Car Project' for Volkswagen. A project that has won him and his agency national and international accolades in Cannes Lions, Spikes Asia, London International, Clios, DMA, Epica, Effie’s, John Caples and AME.
In 2012 he was voted Creative Person of the Year by Campaign Magazine which recognized him both as creative leader and pioneer in the social media landscape of China. He also won the first ever Gold Lion for China in Branded Entertainment at the Cannes International Advertising Festival making his agency GOODSTEIN one of the most awarded independent creative agencies in China to date.
He was recognized as top 100 creative people in China living today, by Fast Company Magazine and was made Digital A-List by Campaign Magazine.
Since 2014 Georg has also been Directing commercials for brands such as VW, Huawei, Tencent whilst developing his own IP.
Maureen Sherrard is a Chilean - Irish global trotter. She has over fifteen years’ experience in the advertising industry in both London and China.
Before Maureen joined GOODSTEIN in 2013, she was an Agency Producer for Proximity in Beijing, initially working as resource manager but rapidly moving towards the production of internal, online films and TVCs, including The People’s Car Project- Building the Car Series, the People’s Original film and the Think Tank series.
At Goodstein, her sole focus is to make the impossible, possible. Might it be the world’s 1st 3D printed stop motion animation or a hand stitched fashion line by the Yi minority mothers of Yunnan, her wide network of contacts is an asset for every production she has worked on.
Maureen was also the executive producer to “This is Sanlitun”, a feature-length independent film officially selected at the Toronto Film Festival in 2013.
GJ Bleechmore has 25 years-experience across the Advertising and Entertainment Industries including TV Commercials, Film and Television, Music Videos and Live Multi Camera Concerts in stadiums with audiences of up to 100,000.
Originally from Melbourne, Australia, he moved to London and Los Angeles soon after University to pursue a career in Music Videos and in the following 10 years worked with some of the industry’s most lauded creative companies including Propaganda Films and Limelight Films.
Artists and concerts included Madonna, Queen, Mick Jagger, Elton John, Janet Jackson, Black Sabbath, Diana Ross, Faith No More and Crowded House.
Whilst continuing in Music and Film, GJ as Producer, transitioned seamlessly into Advertising along with some notable Music Video Director’s whose creativity and originality heralded a new generation of TV commercial directors.
Global production was a constant, multiple international awards soon followed working with brands including General Motors, Coca-Cola, Unilever, Proctor & Gamble, British Telecom, Mars, BMW, Sony, VW, Huawei, ICBC, Audi.
Agencies include Ogilvy, Saatchi and Saatchi, DDB, JWT, Bates, BBDO, Dentsu, McCann, Mojo, Leo Burnett, Publicis, Insight Group.
In 2002 GJ launched his own Production Company working in multiple countries throughout S.E. Asia and Hong Kong and then soon after moving to China in 2012 started a fruitful collaboration with Goodstein, nurturing and developing their original IP.
